Plazza.net

One calendar to rule them all

This site is a 2025 Christmas present for my wife, who has long wanted a single place to find things to do with the kids, with me, and with friends.

Merry Christmas, Sweetheart.

Love,
David

Plazza — User Guide

Overview

Plazza is a personalized calendar that combines events from many venues into one place. You choose which venues you care about, apply simple filters, and Plazza shows you what’s happening—without making you hunt across dozens of websites.

You don’t need an account to browse, but logging in unlocks persistence and personalization.

Venues (Left Sidebar)

The Venues list controls which sources appear on your calendar.

  • Each checkbox represents a venue (library, theater, planetarium, etc.).
  • Checked = events from that venue appear on the calendar.
  • Unchecked = that venue’s events are hidden.

Important behaviors

  • When you subscribe to a venue, it is automatically checked.
  • If you log in, your venue selections are remembered.
  • If you’re browsing as a guest, a small set of Featured Venues is shown by default.

Tip: If your calendar looks empty, check the venue list first.

Preferences (Filters)

Preferences let you narrow down which events you see, without changing which venues are selected.

Common filters include:

  • Kid-friendly events
  • Free events
  • Indoor events
  • Time of day (daytime / evening)
  • Maximum price
  • Favorite keywords

How filters interact

  • Filters are ANDed together (events must match all active filters).
  • If both “Daytime” and “Evening” are unchecked, Plazza assumes no time filter.
  • Filters apply immediately when changed.

Preferences are saved to your account when you’re logged in.

Asking Questions About Events

You can type a natural-language question like:
“Which days have kid-friendly evening events?”

Plazza will analyze the currently visible events and answer based on what’s on your calendar—not the entire internet.

Accounts

With an account, Plazza will:

  • Remember your venue selections
  • Remember your preferences
  • Automatically show newly subscribed venues

Without an account, selections last only for your browser session.

What’s Coming (Teaser)

Plazza is designed to grow. Planned features include:

  • Smarter recommendations
  • Per-user featured venues
  • Event reminders
  • Calendar exports (iCal)
  • Family and group sharing
